In 1961 three brothers formed a band: Chester Pala on trumpet, Wally Pala on drums and vocals, and Al Pala on accordion and arrangements.  They were joined by Jules Preda on sax and clarinet, and William (Bill) Pokusa on bass.
Bill had the ability to write lyrics and Al Pala did the arrangements.  Bill was born in France, in a village of Polish inhabitants. He joined the Polish 2nd Corps during World War II.  Coming to Chicago after the war he noticed that the bands here played the same kind of music he heard in his village in France.  He took on his new song writing career seriously.
In 1964 the Pala Brothers recorded their first album on the Chicago Polkas label.  They became an instant success.  In 1964 Robert (Bob) Bobin joined the group on trumpet and vocals. Bob had a degree in music and taught music in the local high school. He had the ability and wrote many songs for the group including "You Are My Darling Angel".
It was then that Bill Pokusa came up with Polish lyrics for "White Rose Waltz".  Bob came up with an arrangement and this became their most popular song, and has been recorded by many other bands over the years.
The Pala Brothers recorded at total of eleven LP albums.
Bill Pokusa and Bob Bobin have passed on, the band has been disbanded, but their music will be remembered for as long as Polka music is played by Polka bands, and Polka fans everywhere.
