In the past 30 years there are many individual concertina players,
using a variety of styles, that have made names for themselves with
polka bands.
In the 1970s, Chet Lasik and His 47th Street Concertina Club
graduated from being a "gathering of musicians at Eddie Slats'
Tavern," to becoming a recording concertina band. With their
numbers swelling to 32 at times, the club rooster contained
names
like Tadziu Kiewicz, Ed Nowak, and Stan Mikrut. They recorded
several albums and performed at polka festivals throughout the
country.
