Description

Jozef Pilsudski is undoubtedly one of the most distinguished figures in Polish history and culture. Even at the end of the nineteenth century, as a young conspirator, he successfully encouraged to fight against the invader for the Polish and workers' cause. Worried about the fate of the nation, he led the riflemen and legionnaires into clashes with the Russian army. The victorious battle of Warsaw in August 1920 only strengthened Piłsudski's position in the international arena. He was not only an outstanding strategist and statesman, but also an extremely charismatic person. None of the politicians of that time enjoyed such respect, trust and sympathy. This richly illustrated album, with an introduction by a well-known historian and essayist, Professor Andrzej Chwalba, presents Piłsudski's political activity and private life in nearly two hundred photographs.  Text is in English and Polish
