Description

Originally published in 1916, Sagen polnischer Juden is an anthology including 50 Hasidic legends, which come from multiple sources in yiddish. Their main characters are the most remarkable leaders of the Hasidic Movement.

Many tzadiks left their written works, which were studied by Hasids afterwards.
Not all of them wrote books, however - some would spread their lessons only orally. Regardless of medium, all of them would tell legends about all the great men whose work led to the appearance and development of the Hasidic Movement. Some of those stories are in this book. When it comes to Jewish stories, their intrinsic moral value is always more important than how historically accurate they are.
