The Brighton Park Connection started as a group of friends from diverse professional backgrounds, who beginning in the fall of 2004, occasionally gathered together at Ed Ptaszek's house to socialize and share their common joy of playing polka music. Influenced by their association with the late Don Lucki (Polka Hall of Fame trumpet player) they especially enjoyed playing his charts for polka and pop tunes. This unique group is probably the only polka band that can lay claim to having tow brothers, Roman Catholic Priests, that are performing and singing with the Brighton Park Connection. The band members include: Ed Ptaszek on the accordion, Fr Phil Grib on the clarinet, Tom Suroviak on the sax, Bob Dutka on the keyboard and Fr. Bob Grib on the drums and with special guest vocalist, Chet Schafer.
