Description

Beautiful hand made replica of a 17th Century Polish Hussar Sabre and Scabbard.
Chrome plated and engraved with the motto "Vivat Husar" - Long Live The Hussar on one side and "Deus Spes Mea" - God Is My Hope on the other. Size is approx 37" long. The blade does not require any maintenance, the chrome layer perfectly protects the saber against rust. The scabbard is made of wood, covered with natural leather, decorated with brass overlays. Fittings on the scabbard and handle made of polished brass.

The hussar sabre was perhaps the best-known type of szabla of its times and became a precursor to many other such European weapons. Introduced around 1630, it served as a Polish cavalry to cavalry melee weapon, mostly used by heavy cavalry, or Polish Hussars. Much less curved than its Armenian predecessors, it was ideal for horseback fighting and allowed for much faster and stronger strikes.
