Unlike the large state folk ensembles like Mazowsze and Slask whose polished music, songs, and dances receive worldwide attention, the origins of Polish folk music have very humble roots in local villages. These local groups from which the state ensembles owe their heritage are presented here.
To preserve for future generations the beauty of these local folk music groups, Polonia Records is recording a series of their current works. This music may soon be lost forever as the pressures of a modern society begin to change traditional village life. Each Cd includes a pamphlet in Polish describing the history of the group.
