Wieslaw Ochman, indeed the most famous of the contemporary Polish opera singers, is at the same time one of the best tenors of the world. Born in Warsaw, studied in Cracow at the Academy of Mining and Metallurgy. It is at this technical university that he became an M. Sc. by graduating from the Faculty of Ceramics. During the studies he started to learn singing under the supervision of Professor Gustaw Serafin. Ochman appeared for the first time in 1960 on the stage of the Silesian Opera House in Bytom. where he performed with a true success for three seasons. Then, he sang for a year at the Opera of Cracow, and from 1965 to 1975 at the Great Theatre in Warsaw. Since 1966 he appears regularly on the most known opera stages and in the concert halls of the world, such as La Scala of Milan, Metropolitan Opera in New York, and the opera theatres of Berlin, Hamburg, Paris, Buenos Aires, Moscow, Barcelona, Seville, Madrid, San Francisco, Chicago, Vienna, Salzburg, and Washington. Wieslaw Ochman sang at numersous important music festivals with famous orchestra directors.
