In 1966, Ed Guca, Joe Banel and Ed Grzesik paid a visit to Chicago and stopped in on Li'l Wally in his office on Kedzie St.  They introduced themselves as a polka band from Toronto who enjoyed the music of Li'l Wally.  Wally suprisingly booked the band on the spot for two engagements and thus gave the start to the fabulous Polish Canadians.

Forty years later, Ed Guca and the present Polish Canadians have recorded this tribute album in honor of the man who gave them their start.  Ed Guca recreates the soul of Li'l Wally sounds but adds a bit of contemporary feeling and a pinch of the "Polish Canadian" touch.  The music was played and sung "Ze Serca" (from the heart) by musicians that can feel the songs and bring out the joy and happiness that was present in the Li'l Wally original hits.

Li'l Wally's greatest triumph was playing for John Paul II at the Vatican.  Ed Guca updates the song Wally performed for the Pope as a tribute to the man and the goodness for which he stood.
Li'l Wally Jagiello's interpretations of Polish music are the foundation for the contemporary polka sound.  He created a unique style that evolved into the polka music that North America listens and dances to today.  Join us as we take you back to the roots of polka music.

This project was recorded in 2005 and mixed under the auspices of Li'l Wally.  His encouragement and advice inspired reflection and revision.  Li'l Wally's premature passing on August 17, 2006 denied him of the opportunity to hear the final product of his influence.
