Painting on glass is a popular Polish form of folk art by which the artist paints a picture on the reverse side of a glass surface. In many parts of Poland, children dressed in traditional costumes go at Christmas time from house to house around their village or neighborhood carrying a large szopka inside of which is found a traditional nativity scene.  In this beautiful painting the children are dressed in mountaineer's costumes.  Paintings vary.  No two are exactly alike.
